They killed him? Why?

*SPOILER* i guess

Cyclops goes back to the lake where Jean was killed. he keep hearing in his head "scott scott" in the voice of Jean. it angers him and he takes off his glasses and shoots beams into the lake. something comes out of the water and it is jean. she tells him to take his glasses off and that she can control it. she can. they make out then she kills him. then wolverine and storm go to the lake to find jean.

They never actually show him get killed. And in the comics what came out of the water wasn't the 'real' Jean. It was a manifestation of the Phoenix. It is likely that Scott is with the real Jean in a telekinetic cocoon at the bottom of the lake.
