My cd tray on the ps2 will not close all the way.
I don't want to force it and break it.
It trys to close, goes halfway, gets stuck then spits it back out.
Anyway ideals would be greatly appreciated. |

| It sounds like something may be caught in there. Maybee the CD or something else. If you have pets (or a bunch of hairy people) at your house maybee there is hair trapped in the gears. If it's still under waranty I would suggest having them fix it. |

If you open it you void all possibilities of it ever being covered by any extended warranty offered by Sony. I have opened several PS2 before to clean them, but the smallest miss-step will mess it up further.
You could always pull it apart, clean out the gears and make sure they're alligned and put it back together. Be very careful though, when you're messing with gears it's easy to mess up.
It might be a better idea to take it to a shop and have them fix it, expecially if you're not used to working on electronics. |

S'up
Welcome to the boards.
I suggest taking it to the shop to fix it. If you open it up and mess it up further, Sony won't touch you with a bargepole |

I place the tray back on track(heads down, tray in full extension)
Slowly move tray,in the white peg moves the gears cause's the drive and laser to move up too soon(tray hitting drive)
I re-attach the tray so that as it is ALMOST fully closed and manually push tray in completlly and the drive and laser are fully engaged.
Problem when I open now it stops short.
Almost like the track(bottom of cd tray where the white peg fits in)is too short.
Help please! |

| Can you still slide in the disk? If you can, as long as it closes you are fine. If you can't take it to a shop, they'll fix it for you. For a price. |
