Pan's Labrynth was a great R rated fairy tale.

It was thought provoking, but a little obvious with it's plot lines. The only draw back (and just a small one) was that it was in Spanish and subtitled in English, but it has been a while since I watched a subtitled film.

If you can watch R rated fild, then give it a shot, and tell me what you think.

It was....

It was different from what I expected. At the end they let you wonder if the wonderland was ever real, or just the little girls imagination. Even though they gave a lot of evidence to show that it was real, but they leave a bit of a question in your mind.

It was a dark fantasy, but it focused on World War Spain more than the fantasy world.

I never really look upon a foreign film a having drawbacks because of subs.

If anything, films suck more if they're dubbed, instead of using subtitles.

But Pan's really, really rocked. I loved it.

If I can get a good dub, I'll usually op for that over the subtitles. I enjoy losing myself in a movie, and it is a little difficult when I have to read subtitles, but subtitles never seem to take away from the experience; so I guess I'm just beling lazy. In fact they usually add to it by expressing the director's/producer's true view.

Rare gift?

Pfffft...

It's reading! As if it's that difficult to read and watch at the same time...

But then, I'm a hardcore foreign film/anime/manga fan... so maybe I just take it for granted...

I must admit that it isn't that difficult to read and watch at the same time. It didn't even take away from the movie, but when the effects are as slick as Pan's Labrynth then I like to disect them.

I love to look at an effect, and figure out exaclty how they did it. It kinda takes the magic out of it, but I enjoy it.

(and yes, I also try to figure out how magicians and illusionists do thier tricks)
