For gamers who want a PS3 but don't want to spend $ 400, wait until the summer of 2008. A recent issue of EGM magazine predicted the price of the PS3 will be $ 300 in the summer of 2008. Sony has not confirmed or denied this, but business analysts think there will be a price reduction for the PS3 in 2008. Additionally, EGM seems like a reliable source of information. I just wanted to spread the word.

That was one thing that I was shocked to hear. I thought Blue Ray would be available on the next Microsoft console (Xbox 720) but not the Xbox 360. Since HD is on the verge of being dead, I suppose it makes sense for Microsoft to have Blue Ray on the 360.

What I don't understand is why Microsoft is acting like they don't care about Blue Ray winning over HD, but it is obvious that Microsoft cares due to the chance that Blue Ray will be on a 360.

The only one problem I have is that I have to watch DVDs on my PS3 turned on instead of watching them on my tv with a built in DVD player. It is a minor inconvenience, but it is no big deal.

It is a domino effect. Once one company gives in, the rest will succumb to the temptation.

I've been reading a bit about consumers leaving HDDVD. I think the problem was that it took them longer to release viable HDDVD players, and one was not built into the 360. Blu-ray is the superior format, so it's good it won.

I am unsure about the quality of HD and Blue Ray. What is the difference between the two? I have seen 300 on both Blue Ray (which is the version that I own) and HD (at my friends house). But I didn't notice a difference. Is there even a difference?

There has to be other reasons that just memory for the demise of HD and the rise of Blue Ray. It can't all be because of memory. Can it?

yes it can ,bcs, the hd-dvd has a capacity of 25 gb and the standard blue ray doubles its capacity (about 50gb),even in this right moment reasearchers are working on a new 200 gb blue ray disc, the blue ray will have updates as ps3,and also is smoothest at reading the discs,i think that those are suficient reasons to declare BR as the winner of the new hd generation. Cool

Oh, I see. Now, I finally understand why Blue Ray won the format wars over HD.
