Hello. This wil lbe the first on a series of topics about my beliefs on certain things, intended to spark debate. At any rate... My beliefs on...
Imperialism!
When it comes to imperilaism, I believe that by default, it's wrong. What the British and French and such did to the NAtive AMericans? Wrong. Most instances of it have been wrong. However, it is sometimes a good idea to extend authority. For example, I would be fully behind the USA if they ordered a nation commiting genocide or atrocities like that to stop. ORDERED. However, saying, "You're my colony now", is wtong. (And THAT'S why I don't like the old British Empire!)
Like some things, even though it's normally wrong it can be justified.
Now, DISCUSS! |

The Old British Empire was badass.
Erm. If we're going to do the whole "look waht them damn brits did to the natives", I'd just like to point out how the Americans are treating the old skool "natives" at this present time, or in the recent past. |

| I know that, and I don't agree with that either. |

I'd also like to point out the bonuses of an Imperialistic regeime.
Economic strength, relative world saftey (few wars, most were civil disputes etc).
It wasn't al bad, and its not like they butchered everyone/all the time. |

And thats were I say your wrong. People had been living their for centuries. They were first called Indians because Columbus thought he was in India after searching for a shorter trade route. He was wrong but the name stuck. I mean think about it. All throught the americas there are signs of ancient civilisations. The Aztecs, ring a bell? |
