Funny, I feel the same way. FIrst of all, we have gotten past the point that you are addicted to it. I am trying to proove the definition of addiction and that people do get addicted.

How many times do I have to say that there does not have to be a chemical in something for it to be addicting.

It has been proven that playing video games such as Wow raisees your dopamine levels which means that you get addicted to it.

Oh congratulations numbnuts... you've finally managed to name an addictive chemical. And you know what else? They don't get addicted to playing the game. They get addicted to the dopamine. Funny that, innit?

And please, please stop ignoring the entirity of my point. I can imagine a person like you, who seems to have all the answers, can manage to counter every part of my post. So why don't you? Is it 'cos you can't? Or are you jsut too lazy?

Which is funny... becuase I always thought it was us "stoners" that were too lazy and apathetic to do anything...

Its not like I make these big ass posts for fun or anything...

YOur point about being addicted to dopamine is stupid. When something raises the levels of dopamine it is considered an addiction, as the guy said that you can become addicted to video games because of that.

Quote:
Because increased levels of dopamine have been found in people who are playing video games and because these effects are similar to the increased levels of dopamine in drug addicts, some researchers have hypothesized that higher levels of dopamine can produce a dangerous cycle leading to addiction of video games [/code]

There is psycological addiction where your body becomes dependant on it emotionally, and I dont care if you havnt seen it but I have seen it and a spokesperson came in and talked to us how he used to use pot and whenever he didn't he would feel sad and depressed.

FRD suppose your doctor told you theres nothing addictive in it so its easier to stop, implying that you do stop for your health? maybe, scince he gave you the look o_0

btw playing the games causes dopmine to come, and you cant substitue pot dopamine for WoW dopamine,

Eh... I've seen that a few times... not what I'd call "funny". Watchable though...

Oh yeah, course there are health limitations. I've already mentioned that back when I first entered the fray in my RE: to Pyth's first post. But then again, smoking tobacco and drinking arte both as bad for my healt and are addictive, and I still do those too *shrug*

I don't think there are different "types" of dopamine per se. 'cos its the exact same chemical released each time. *but* different activites could release different levels of the stuff.

Eh, I dunno. Its something I'll have to look into.

-edit-

HAve I mentioned that I'm against legalisation?

As nice as it would be to get an eight for only 10 pounds, rather than the usual twenty, I wouldn't want to pay tax. nor am I comfortable with the idea that kids can get thier hands on it.

Having said that, its not as if a dealer will say no to kids anyways...

I have to take my own postion.

Legalisation should NOT happen. It's stupid. The stuff kills your brain cells, and increased risk of cancer. ONE joint = about TWENTY cigs.

So, you wanna hurt yourelf? Smoke it when it's not legal.

And Rickjames, stop being so arrogant. Even if people don't agree with you, there's no reason they have to.

I'm not being arrogant, I'm trying to tell him about the studies which atually proved that it doesn't kill brain cells.

To start off with I will not be quoting anyone, because there are too many things I will be commenting on, and my comments can be seen as general comments anyway!
This thread has made me personally very angry, and not even because of the weed debate, I myself do weed, and I am very comfortable with that fact, I have not done any for the last month, I feel fine, and I intend to not do any for roughly the next five months, and I am sure that I will stick to this intention.
Recently I have been offered cocaine and ecstasy, not as in do you want to buy some, but as in it was right in front of me, and I said no, does this sound like weed has been a gateway drug? I personally think not, feel free to challenge me on this.
Weed is not a halluginogen, therefore you have complete control over what your mind sees, it sees what is infront of you and nothing more!
Also when you get high on Marijuana you do not think you can fly! This is the wrong drug completely! At least think before you write these things! I knew this before I had even got drunk befoer, I knew this when I was maybe 13 years old, so do not tell me that weed makes you think you can fly! You are thinking of LSD most probably!
Any comment you make such as "does crazy stuff to some crazy people" needs proof to back it up! And personally I think you are right, mentally less stable people should not try marijuana because it is a serious rick! But at least you could provide some evidence before you make such a blatantly biased comment!
Also if alcohol was discovered in this time it would be illegal! It is only because it was within the social life that it was not made illegal! One member of my close family has died from alcohol and another of my very close family unit is addicted to alcohol! Noone can try and tell me that alcohol is not as addictive as marijuana because I have had first hand experience of alcohol addiction, yet I know noone who is addicted to marijuana, I wonder why this is? Alcohol is not safe! Therefore you should stop contrasting the "unsafe marijuana" with the "safe alcohol"! My life has been turned upside down by alcohol, and I can safely say that I would have had a much more normal childhood without alcohol included somewhere! And yet I still drink alcohol now that I am of that age, why is that? Because I know my limits, and have learnt a very hard lesson, that is to keep my consumption of any substance in control!
It is amazingly easy to get hooked on alcohol, and lately the person I know who is an addict accused me of being out of control because I celebrated one good day in my life! I found this very rich, but it just goes to show that any addiction is unknown for a long time, and hurts people around them!
Vahncelot said that people who use marijuana regularly need upto 8 times as much marijuana to give them the same effect, stating this as a bad thing! The same happens with alcohol and tobacco! Why do cigarretes not give long term smokers head rushes any more? Why do long term drinkers of alcohol find it increasingly harder to get drunk? Even tolerance of something fairly "trivial" such as sleep deprivation builds up! How do you suppose that people fly between continents 3 or 4 times a week and still survive? Tolerance build up is how! And once again this is an example that I am very close too as one of my close family unit does fly intercontinental 3 to 4 times a week, and yet ow is it that I still get affected massively by one intercontinental flight every 5 or 6 months! Because tolerance builds up!
I guess you could call beer a gateway substance to "harder" beverages! But noone does, because there is no biased against alcohol! But with marijuana it is definitely a gateway drug! I say this is stupid, as I stated before I have been offered several harder drugs and have turned down each one, it depends who you are!
Any replies would be welcomed, and any of you who still act ignorantly will never cease to astound me!

Personal experiance is much more accurate than the bullsh!t you've been spouting. Know anyone that smokes dope personally? Other than those "guys at school who are total stoners"? If you did, they'd be saying exactly the same as us.
