Well, it seems that the current PS3 controller is being referred to by Sony rep's as a 'prototype'. They say the actual controller will be unveiled at E3 in may.
In related news, Sony is being sued by a peripheral company who says that Sony ripped off their design. This may have something to do with the change of the controller design. |

| I believe they will go for backwards compatibility like they did with the PS1. They say they want true backwards compatibility. |

Maybe they will make it even gayer. As far as I could tell, the new controllers that they used to show were almost identical to the current ones except the really long handles. Besides looking gay, i thought it was actually a good revolutionary feature. And they SHOULD do like the 360 and make the controller similiar and easy to back-wards compatibilize but still make it so you can't play the PS3 with a PS2 controller. IMO that was one of Sony's biggest mistakes with their PS2. What was even worse was that they had the Analog controllers on the PS ONEs special edition.
Knowing the money whores that Sony is, they will definitely make it so you can't play the controllers on the PS2, or vice versa. Atleast if theyre smart they will. |

| well to clarify stuff on g4 at their e3 coverage sony has gone back to the old design, but the new controlers will have a motion sensor in them so that moveing the controler will change stuff in the game. this concept sounds a lot like the wii's controler. |

I really liked the Wii controller, once you use it you will understand. It is good in the right hands.
I've also seen a GC style Wii controller. I think the pic may have been in the Nintendo press kit. The GC style controller is for GC, SNES, NES, and the other games.
----
I do think it was smart for Sony to add in the motion sensors like Nintendo did. |

yeh the motion sensors will be cool but they could be a hassle as well because they may make the on screen charater do something you dont want them to like if u fidget in your chair it could fling your character of a cliff to certain doom |

I see what you're talking about. I'm sure you will be able to turn it off just like you can turn rumble off now.
Also, no more rumble on the PS3. They said it disrupts the motion sensors. |
